Zipcar will close its Seaport headquarters in Boston and move corporate operations to Avis Budget Group's global headquarters in New Jersey. The cuts affect 126 employees, including 65 Boston-based workers and 61 remote employees nationwide. The layoffs are expected to take effect by April 1, 2026. Zipcar said regional field and fleet operations will remain in Boston and local markets, so member service is not expected to be disrupted.
